Phillip Sargent was born in 1950 in Perth, Western Australia. He was raised with Christian morals, but knew nothing of the Christian gospel. At age 29 his first marriage shattered like a bursting bubble and in the pain and shock he called out to God as any unbeliever would – not believing that God was
really there and was listening. Over the period of the following two years he was led on a spiritual journey by a spiritual influence that he learned to trust, and later realised was in reality the God he had called out to.
His eyes were opened to the spiritual world for the first time in his life and,
unbelievably, he was led to faith in Jesus Christ through reading a New Age book from the Findhorn Community in Scotland. He quickly embraced his new found faith and started attending Bible studies, with a great appetite. He is a retired Control System Engineer who has spent his working career in
programming industrial control systems, mostly in the mining industry in Western Australia, but now owns and operates Redmile Coffee Roasters in Perth’s Eastern Hills as a retirement passion.
However, his main passion is his Christian life and Bible study, having become a born-again believer in Jesus Christ in late 1980. He spent his formative years as a Christian in an open Brethren Fellowship where he sat under excellent teaching for many years – teaching that still forms the basis of his understanding of the entire Bible. It was in this fellowship that his teaching gift was first recognised and employed.
